The upcoming Election

What are your thoughts on Senators Obama and McCain as it relates to them addressing your urgent needs as a citizen?

I think that both men have the interest of this country at heart; however, Senator Obama seems to have a closer touch with what middle class America needs and desires for the future.

I think both candidates have made many promises throughout their campaign. I am not looking for what they will promise because it very well may not be the case when they get into office. Senator Obama has given the American citizens an urgency of "HOPE" that I feel is very important right now due to the state of the economy. Yes the promises are good, but having that "HOPE" is assurance that things will indeed get better for every citizen.

How should church leaders prepare their congregation for the important upcoming election?

Thank both of you (Sister Sharon and "D") for your response...first I think that promises in campaigns are not always kept because no one really knows until you get inside to realize that what appeared to be one way from one perspective is not always the reality! Hope is all we have at this point, and hope in change can not be expected to survive without work!

D, I think the church needs to encourage all congregations to exercise their rights. We can't expect that our prayers without action will yield us much. Faith without works is DEAD! Works means action, and while churches love to sit behind walls and discuss what they do have, unless you vote, you have no voice!

Thanks again
