Acts 3 talks about the man who was carried and laid at the gate call Beautiful. He was laid there to beg for "alms" from those going into the temple each day. When Peter and John began to enter the man asked them for an alm, and Peter answered and said money I don't have, but what I do have...I give unto you in the name of Jesus Christ.
Peter invoked the name of Jesus before he lifted the man up, and immediately he received power to not only stand, but to leap! What are your thoughts on this power that Peter displayed in the clear act of faith and confidence in what he had (Acts 3:6).

Peter understood that there is ultimate power in the name of Jesus Christ. He was aware of this power because of his relationship with him. His relationship with Christ signifies the level of faith he also had in Him. That is where we as the Body of Christ have to get to. Our relationship with Him determines how much we trust him which in turns dictates our level of faith.
By using Jesus name to heal the lame man, Peter acknowledged the fact that all his power and authority surely was nothing of himself. Peter used the name of Jesus in faith. We can speak alot of things, but if its not claimed or done in the name of Jesus, can we really expect it to come to pass? It is never of ourselves when God's plan and purpose for our lives comes to fruition. We must always give thanks to Him for all things...good or bad. Peter recognized the fact that it was not of him nor John but all in the power that the name of Jesus holds.
Great point here Sister Sharon. Peter not only recognized that his power was nothing, but the power of Christ, which raised others from the dead and healed of sickness was still more powerful then than ever before!
As you read further in the chapter you will discover that the folk in the church wanted to praise Peter and John, and he refused to accept it...as a matter of fact he did not want the people to focus on the healed man. Peter realized that when you set your eyes and hearts on Christ, you will discover that there is nothing to hard for God, through His Son Jesus.
After reading your last comment, I ask this question? Does the majority of the Body of BELIEVERS today have the mentality of those in this text that wanted to praise man? We as beleivers tend to want to look at the blessing more than the blessor. However, if we do believe that the power in the name of Jesus is indeed the ultimate power, why then do we forget so quickly to give him all the honor and glory when miracles manifest in our lives?
I believe that there are times when we, as believers, still are conditioned to assign immediate honor to that which we see. The people of the temple knew that no one in their group even bothered to bring the man into the temple and as they past this man daily, they only paused long enough to give him an alm, but Peter and John took time to minister instead massage his desire for money.
