Power in your Faith

Good Evening...sorry I arrived late to the party!

Last night, Wednesday, we discussed the fact that without Faith, you have no power. You will note in the Gospel, there was a man who had a son who fell in and out of fire and water. The father brought the boy to the disciples of Christ, but they could not "cure" him. Christ was able to heal the boy and then was confronted with the notion of why "they" could not do what He had done. Christ answered them and told them in essence, you are filled with faith.

What causes us to have faith in some instances and very little in others? Why do we seek power, but refuse to believe in the Faith, which brings the power?

When I read this text in Mark 9 it disturbed me that the disciples were not able to heal this boy. I went back a few chapters to Ch 6 and vs 13 says that the disciples cast out many demons and healed many sick people. What was so different from this demon possessed boy in Ch 9 and the casting out demons in Ch 6? Was it because their fatih decreased in Christ through events that occured between these few chapters? I see that Jesus walking on the water occured between these few chapters, and they were so terrified of what they saw they thought they saw a ghost. And when they laid their eyes on Jesus they still were terrified that he could walk on water.

As I ponder on this, we are sometimes wavering in faith as the disciples were. I believe that there are some cirucmstances and situations that require more faith than others. But your faith gives you the power to overcome anything. The word says that all things are possible with God. This does not mean that we will get everything we want when we want it. I understand it to mean that if we beleive, nothing is to difficult for our God to handle. I do not beleive that the disciples had no faith at all, its just that in this particular instance their faith was not strong enough to cast out this demon in this little boy. There are different levels of faith and we as Christians have to make up in our minds if we are going to exercise "BIG" faith or "little" faith which ultimately determines the amount of power we possess.
