Spiritual Connections

Last night we discussed "Spiritual Connections" and how they either impact or impede your life. The connection of a lamp to a dead outlet does not produce light...it does produce frustration. Our conversation centered around I Samuel 18, where Jonathan and David were "connected."

What are your thoughts on the connectivity of the church today. Why are we quick to connect to what is popular as opposed to what is right? And being connected does not always mean that it is the right connection.

Let's hear what your take is on Spiritual Connectivity.

Good evening, In response to the question Why are we quick to connect to what is popular as opposed to what is right? Alot of the time going with the popular thing takes no thought you just following the majority. Doing what is right means you have to be secure in your relationship with God because He will be the one to strengthen you and you have to be sure of yourself that no matter what comes or goes you will stand for what you believe. You have to be bold and confident when doing what is right.

Great comments! So would you say that confidence has a lot to do with connectivity? We see David's confidence in chapter 17 of I Samuel, but what about all of the others that were used by God? Moses is a great example. He displayed a great deal of none confidence...Gideon, he doubted that God was even speaking to him, and needed signs before he even moved to what God had called him to.

When you think about it if you have a great power source "God" and its a strong connection then you feel secure because you are not just trusting man you are trusting Him because if you are connected to Him you know that there is no failure in Him. You have to know what you are connected to & be sure your plugged all the way in!

I know my response is a little late, however, I think that your connection with Christ will build your confidence in Him as well as within yourself. It all derives from the relationship you have with Christ. Pastor Gibson, you mentioned the confidence of Moses and of Gideon. Would you say that each of them had the same relationship with God as the other did? Just like my relationship with Christ is not like anyone elses. We are/can be on different levels in Christ which defines how strong your connection is which in turn will determine your confidence level. Paul encouraged the church of Phillippinans that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, that is confidence in the connection to Christ.

David had strong confidence due to his strong connection with God. I mean he was man after God's own heart...this is the ultimate/grand relationship one can possibly have with Him. Strong connection = Strong Confidence. That is why David as a little boy in 1 Samuel 16 was able to stand up against Goliath and kill him. His strength was not based on his physical appearance but had everything to do with his SPIRITUAL CONNECTION!
